About Me

Being a teacher not only describes what I do, but in many ways describes who I am.  Some people say that teaching is a calling. I would tend to agree with that.  Ever since I was 10 years old, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher.  I attended Western Carolina University in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina, and taught  public school for the next 30 years following graduation. Most of my career was spent teaching Algebra, Geometry, or Algebra 2 in the high school setting.  In the middle of my teaching career, I achieved National Board Certification. Toward the end of my high school teaching career, I had the opportunity to attend Gardner-Webb University, where I received my Master of Arts in Education.

After a restful six months of retirement, I found myself feeling like something was missing in my life.  I substituted in the high schools, but found that something was still missing in my life.  A friend, who later became my aunt, suggested that I apply for a job teaching adults at Gaston College.  I was hired and discovered that I am now ready for my second career- teaching adults!  I love it!
